Walk to School Challenge

During the month of October Green Works is challenging elementary, middle school students and their families can help their schools win one of five $5,000 grants by walking or bicycling to school. Parents are encouraged to sign up their family on Facebook to log their walking and bicycling trips to benefit their school. Five schools with the highest number of participants will win $5000. Individuals can win prizes such as shoelaces and water bottles.

The walk to school challenge is about more than helping schools. It is about encouraging families to be more active and make a lifestyle change. So why not make a change, enjoy some quality time with your kids and potentially win some money for your school.

Don’t Fret The Sweat

Being the parent of a tween sometimes makes me feel like I have landed on another planet. I just don’t always know where I am navigating.

There are a lot of issues to address like alcohol, drugs, sex and peer pressure. While those are the most common issues we think of as parents sometime the small things like sweat are overlooked. But seriously avoid my house after football practice because it stinks!
