Amy Inspired by Bethany Pierce
Summary of Amy Inspired:
Amy Gallagher is an aspiring writer who, after countless rejections, has settled for a career as an English professor in small-town Ohio just to pay the bills. All her dreams suddenly start to unravel as rejections pile up—both from publishers and her boyfriend. But just as Amy fears her life is stuck in a holding pattern, she meets the mysterious, attractive, and unavailable Eli.
She struggles to walk the fine line between friendship and something more with Eli, even as staying true to her faith becomes unexpectedly complicated. When secrets, tragedy, and poor decisions cause rifts in Amy’s relationships, she must come to terms with who she’s become, her unrealized aspirations for her life, and the state of her faith. Can she dare to hope that she will find love and fulfillment despite it all?

My Thoughts on Amy Inspired:
This was my first encounter with a book by Bethany Pierce. She writes differently than something I am used to writing. Is that bad, no not really just different.
I have to say that I had a difficult time relating to Amy who was a writer trying to find her inspiration. While I often suffer from writers block I am so far from Amy as a character that I more found her intriguing instead of relating to her. Amy is single living with her roommate Zoe. Zoe is quite eccentric and unpredictable. Eli enters the picture after Amy has ended a relationship and he really kind of gets on her nerves. The story unfolds and life happens for both Amy and Zoe while a love interest happens between Amy and Eli.
While I wouldn’t hesitate to pass this book onto a friend I cannot say that it hits my all time favorite list. I will say however that I did appreciate the ending and I would pick up another book by Bethany Pierce just to see if her subject is something I could relate to better.
