I have really been working hard recently to lose some weight. You really don’t need to spend a lot to have exercise equipment. I have some equipment that isn’t exactly cheap but I also pick up some of the basics while I am out thrifting.
Just last week I picked up these books and dumbbells. A couple days later we had a death in the family and found out we will be traveling this weekend. (Hence my absence this week) I know that one day I likely won’t have an exercise room in the hotel we are staying. I know that I won’t have to worry if I just bring along my 6 minute exercise series books. The entire set was only $3.00. You can see the original price tag on one book was $4.22. The best part is all I need is a mat for these exercises and really you can get away without one if you have a clean floor surface.
I also picked up a set of 5 pound dumbbells for only $2.00. This was a complete steal and even though my shoulders aren’t ready for 5 pound weights I scooped them up. Hopefully it won’t be long and I will have enough strength to utilize them.
Exercise doesn’t need to be an expensive situation. You don’t need a $30 a month gym membership. Just $4.00 was a great addition to my personal exercise area and it isn’t limited to one person.
Other items I have commonly seen at the thrift store: exercise balls, dumbbells in a variety of weights, ankle/wrist weights, older treadmills, stair steppers, step platforms and a lot of books and DVDs. Really the options are limitless. Consider a second hand store like Try It Again Sports although I am sure you pay a little more you will likely find what you are looking for sooner than Goodwill.
What have you found this week?
