Tomorrow is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. I am so thrilled to partner with Green Giant and bring you the news of how they are helping saving a little of the Earth this year.
Some of Green Giant’s changes include
- Reducing the amount of land and water needed to grow vegetables.
- Packing vegetables in smaller, lighter cans, so it takes less fuel to deliver them to supermarket shelves.
- Utilizing traditional seed breeding methods over the last 35 years to double the amount of sweet corn grown on an acre of land.
- Teaming up with growers to install a more efficient irrigation system that can reduce water use by more than a million gallons a year.
- Switching to more earth-friendly paperboard to package frozen vegetables, saving approximately 54,000 trees annually in the process.
Green Giant will also be giving $200,000 to The Nature Conservancy to help a project that will teach farmers how to become greener farmers. To learn more about the project visit http://www.GreenGiant.com/sustainability during the month of April.

Save the water while your shower is heating up and use it to water your garden.
I think we can all do our part by recycling, using green grocery bags, getting back to everyone having a composted garden for at least items they eat alot of. (it really is a lot easier than most think it is!) Watching household power usage, hanging laundry out to dry which also gives you fresh air and a little sun for good health!
Raise chickens. You get organic eggs and fertilizer for your garden.
Buy used when possible. Keeps stuff out of the landfills and is cheaper, too.
My favorite green tip: I clean with baking soda and vinegar, works wonders.

When I am warming up my boys’ bathwater I put a jug under it and use it to water my plants.
Use reusable grocery bags, grow your own vegetables if you have the room to grow a garden, and go to farmer’s markets to buy locally grown produce.
Clean out your drains with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda! The bubbling action is way cool, too!

My tip is to be mindful of resources by doing your best to use what you have and reduce waste! Thank you for the giveaway!
Thanks for the giveaway…we avoid “vampire” energy drain (leaving non-essential appliances / electronics plugged-in when they are not in use); even if it’s “off” it still may be drawing power unless it’s unplugged !!!
