Tomorrow is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. I am so thrilled to partner with Green Giant and bring you the news of how they are helping saving a little of the Earth this year.
Some of Green Giant’s changes include
- Reducing the amount of land and water needed to grow vegetables.
- Packing vegetables in smaller, lighter cans, so it takes less fuel to deliver them to supermarket shelves.
- Utilizing traditional seed breeding methods over the last 35 years to double the amount of sweet corn grown on an acre of land.
- Teaming up with growers to install a more efficient irrigation system that can reduce water use by more than a million gallons a year.
- Switching to more earth-friendly paperboard to package frozen vegetables, saving approximately 54,000 trees annually in the process.
Green Giant will also be giving $200,000 to The Nature Conservancy to help a project that will teach farmers how to become greener farmers. To learn more about the project visit http://www.GreenGiant.com/sustainability during the month of April.

My whole family loves Green Giant veggies and I am glad they are socially aware of our world.
I have lots of green tips, but probably one of my favorites has been switching to cloth napkins. I love not having to buy paper towels or napkins anymore!

I use publlic transportation a lot more than I used to, and, of course, I recycle, use reusable bags, etc.
Plant a garden.
dry clothes outdoors
At our house we use solar flashlights. No batteries to purchase or recycle.
You can successfully wash all your clothes in cold water. Thanks!
I’m not going to lie. We are not green, because we don’t share the same beliefs in our environment as some do. However, we are responsible. Common sense things like not leaving lights or anything running that aren’t being used to keep our electrical costs down; not throwing garbage out the window or on the ground, so as not to make things look messy; etc.
Stop buy bottled water. Use a pitcher filter system and fill reuseable bottles instead. Thanks.
My favorite green tip is to recycle and/or reuse everything you can possibly can and teach your children to participate from an early age.
just bring tote bags with you when you shop it just makes sense
sign me up, i dont throw anything away that i dont think ahead on “what else could this be used for”
My fave green tip is to plant a garden
My favorite green tip is to start an organic garden using compost from your kitchen scraps and yard trimmings!! No chemicals!!
Compost your kitchen scraps and use them to help grow a healthier garden.
It’s easy to remember to bring your own bag shopping when you keep one folded in your purse or in your car.
GFC follower now! Thanks.
My favorite green tip is to not shop unless you really need something! And that’s only after we have looked around the house for something to substitute for what we “need”. Thanks!
RECYCLE
I’m not a huge green person but I do believe in recycling and keeping our environment clean. My best tip is to hang out laundry. I love doing it. It helps our electric bill and there is something just peaceful about doing it.

Use reusable grocery bags.
I have a rag bag with worn t-shirts and other cotton fabric which I use for cleaning.I use the fabric not the rag bag.
I’m using cloth napkins.
Use cloth towels instead of paper to clean things.
Switch over to CFL light bulbs. They are greener, yes, but also very economical and last way, way longer. This is a great bonus on those hard to reach light fixtures.
