We made the decision to be done homeschooling after this year. Jess will be starting high school and with his personality we really want to get him out in public a little more instead of retreated in the house. While I love having him home I am also a little burned out on nonstop distractions. I guess there is a point where I need to take care of myself and the new school is only 3 days a week so I am not totally giving up my role in his education. The alternative school we chose is an independent study situation where he will interact with a small classroom a couple days a week but the rest of the week he will do work at home. I think it will be a good transition from home to school and hopefully not too overwhelming. I am really looking forward to some time to myself where I get to blog, organize and work on making time for myself. This is just one of the first changes we have made an absolutely final decision on for the coming year. While I have enjoyed homeschooling there is a time for change and it will be here soon.
I’m sure it was not an easy decision to make, but we all have to decide what is best for our family.
